GIOCONDA
The GIOCONDAS series, produced between 2000 and 2002, is the last work carried out with traditional media, in this case ink and watercolour. They are small-format images on cardboard, of approximately 17 x 13 cm, and they are all inspired by and reflect the framing of Leonardo da Vinci’s Gioconda. The series is a departure from the original Gioconda in that each of the women depicted here shines through her own individuality. These are not women who strive to seduce, but rather women who let themselves be looked at while they also look.
